Beatitudes of Bethany Home for the Chronic Sick

Blessed are you who feel my loneliness and come to keep me company;

Blessed are you who forgive that my eyes see indistinctly
and that my mind is confused;

Blessed are you who don’t mind that my hands are weak;

Blessed are you who understand that sometimes
I cannot easily grasp what people are saying;

Blessed are you who know the value of a smile,
and the joy of your chatting with me – even for a short while;

Blessed are you who care for me,
making easier the days which remain for me
on this pilgrimage towards eternity . ..

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:2-10
