Make a palm cross for Palm Sunday

10 April is Palm Sunday – the start of Holy Week

Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ triumphant arrival in the city of Jerusalem for Passover, where he was greeted by a crowd of people laying palm branches at his feet. They hoped that He would overthrow the Roman government, and greeted him with words of praise: “Hosanna to the Son of David”, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord” and  “Blessed is the king of Israel”.

Today, we make palm crosses in remembrance. These are blessed and gathered up after mass to be burned to make the ashes that will be used on Ash Wednesday the following year.

Follow these easy steps to create your own palm cross for Palm Sunday.
